About Me

I am a loving mom or 2 children and now I am a proud grandmother of a handsome baby boy that was born in October 2011! I have been on disability for several years now and trying to make it on just that money is VERY hard sometimes. They say we don't qualify for ANY type of assistance and that is just crazy. How do they expect a family to survive on the small amount of money that comes from a disability check? I am now 38 years old. Since I was 16 years old I have had a lot of problems with my pancreas. About 12 years ago I also started having problems with my liver. Then 5 years ago the Drs decided that it would be best to remove as much of the pancreas that they could. They removed 3/4 of it and with it they had to remove my spleen. Needless to say it didn't really help much, I have major chronic pain and I am always nauseated. Then in February 2012, they opened my abdomen back up (from sternum to belly button) and I had a very long (12 hrs) and painful surgery. They removed a little sliver from what was left of the pancreas. They also removed a lot of scar tissue that was there from the previous surgery. It was a long and painful recovery. During this surgery they placed a feeding tube so now that's how I get my nutrition. I am on a lot of medications and since they had to remove my spleen I have a very bad immune system now. I am also a severe diabetic now.
Even through all of this, my children and I LOVE to help other people whenever we can, and we only ask for help when we absolutely have too.
