I am a 45 year old mother of 3 living in Florida. I have one son living with me, One son in college and my daughter no longer lives with me. My kids are my life. I am very proud of them.
I work full time as a cashier, I have been at this same job for almost 5 years now. I was laid off before getting this job back in 2007 when everything started falling apart and they would not extend my unemployment past the 6 months at that time because they said there was no need, no crisis. My job came along when my last check from unemployment came in. What timing! I know so many are still struggling to find a job let alone full time. I am blessed to still be working.
My goal is to try and move out of Florida to a place with more affordable housing. My area seems to be climbing again on rent and prices on homes seem to have gone back up and are rising to fast for me. I know by the time i am able to have a downpay the prices for homes will be out of my reach on what i could purchase. I would like to find a house that i can pay off within 10-15 years so when i retire all i need to worry about is the upkeep, taxes,my regular bills and essentials. I do not want to be struggling to survive as i am now. I do not see me reaching my goal in Florida. I am not looking or wanting anything fancy just a nice little house for me to live comfortably in.
So hopefully within a few years i can transfer within my job to another state (Thinking NC,SC,TN,GA) and maybe get a mortgage that the payment is less then my rent now or do a land contract to have my home of my dreams and my future!
