About Me

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Larry, for 37 years. He is the love of my life. I am posting here for him. Our lives changed forever on July 15, 2007, when our only beloved daughter, Leslie, was found murdered. Her daddy found her laying on the ground steps from her front door. She had been shot twice in the back. Her murderer then set her bed on fire and tried to burn down the apt. He died from smoke inhalation. We miss her terribly. Six months after losing Leslie, my husband was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease, a neuro-muscular disease with no cure and usually fatal within 4 years. I am blessed to still have Larry with me today. Since being diagnosed, he had to take disability and now wears leg braces and has limited mobility. There's no treatment for ALS and it's heartbreaking to see his muscles waste away. BUT we remain positive and am thankful we have each other today. One year after Larry's diagnosis I lost my job of 20 years with one of those big banks you heard about when they merged with an investment company and eliminated my department. I found a job making half the money BUT am happy and very grateful for having a good job. Since losing our daughter, we and her amazing girlfriends started a 5K Run/Walk in her Memory and have raised over $50,000 to help homeless pets in a local no-kill animal shelter. We currently volunteer with a local domestic abuse organization to raise awareness and help victims leave their abusers and we help with ALS and MDA events.
