About Me

Hi, my name is Sylvia, I'm 24 years old and I have a 5 year old daughter who is legally blind. Her name is Heaven Leigh! Mattie Dianne is my second child. She is 8 months, she was born 5/11/12! I also have Mattie's brother and sister! Blaize 3, and Indica 10. He's incarcerated and their mom's aren't doing the best!

My mom passed away when I was 2 and I've always had to rely in strangers to raise me from a baby into adulthood. That's partially why I love this site because my own family couldn't even be there for me, and it baffles me when strangers can care more than your own family! And now it's just me and my daughter in this big world and I have no one to turn to, but this site! So I appreciate everyone on here being someones hero everyday! Thanks to everyone that helps us and maybe I'll find a friend or two! It's hard being a single mommy with a disabled child!

A little history on Heaven was born with congenital bilateral cataracts, nystagmus, and foveal hypoplasia...she had an eye surgery at 10 months and has had extensive therapy so far her entire life! She goes to eye doctors because she also got lens implanted into her eyes and she needs month to month monitoring for how she's doing and we are trying to figure out where she stands. I hope one day to move to Boise to be closer to all of her specialist doctors!

I'm going to school to be a nurse. Gotta start somewhere! I pay for everything myself because I don't get financial aid because of something I did myself, but I'm working on getting that sorted out so it's not that hard on me every month!

I'm hoping to be a hero and have heroes :) We just need to pay it forward, right??
