Wife, professional and mother (one daughter & three stepsons). We've been through some tough times, too. My daughter, Kat, and I both suffer from asthma & fibromyalgia. I have four bulging discs in my back and Kat has Marfan's Syndrome. Believe me, we understand how hard life can be.

Do you live near student apartment complexes? At the end of each semester some students move out. Often, they haul items that won't fit in their cars/trucks to the dumpsters. We've rescued microwaves, vacuums, appliances, beds, dressers, tables, & futons in good condition. Some were brand new! How many 19 year olds actually vacuum? :) Keep your eyes open for these "found" treasures.

Here is something that has saved me a lot of money and gotten me the help I needed. I have an Ameriplan discount card for Dental, Vision, Prescription and Chiropractic discounts. It is a discount plan where you pay a reduced fee at the time of service. A one-surface filling would normally cost $198, but I pay only $70.

My coverage costs $14.95 a month, but a family plan (everyone in your household) is just $19.95 a month.
