Wife, professional and mother (one daughter & three stepsons). We've been through some tough times, too. My daughter, Kat, and I both suffer from asthma & fibromyalgia. I have four bulging discs in my back and Kat has Marfan's Syndrome. Believe me, we understand how hard life can be.
Do you live near student apartment complexes? At the end of each semester some students move out. Often, they haul items that won't fit in their cars/trucks to the dumpsters. We've rescued microwaves, vacuums, appliances, beds, dressers, tables, & futons in good condition. Some were brand new! How many 19 year olds actually vacuum? :) Keep your eyes open for these "found" treasures.
The Summer Food Service Program is designed to fill that nutrition gap and make sure children can get the nutritious meals they need.
To find meals and sites in your community, call the National Hunger Hotline at 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE. By calling this toll free number, you will be given information on where you can find summer sites in your area, as well as additional food assistance information.
Here is something that has saved me a lot of money and gotten me the help I needed. I have an Ameriplan discount card for Dental, Vision, Prescription and Chiropractic discounts. It is a discount plan where you pay a reduced fee at the time of service. A one-surface filling would normally cost $198, but I pay only $70.
My coverage costs $14.95 a month, but a family plan (everyone in your household) is just $19.95 a month.
Just google Ameriplan and see if it will help your family.
