About Me

I'm a happily married mom of four; three girls, ages 21, 23 and 26, and a son age 12.

I am a nurse and a paralegal, but after becoming ill several years ago, I wound up on Social Security Disability, which has been very discouraging for me as I miss my career. However, I am slowly re-entering the workforce by working a few hours per week in an optometrist's office. I hope to eventually return to my skilled profession and the work I loved.

My husband, a licensed builder, started his own business after being laid off in 2007. Unfortunately, construction work is inconsistent here in Michigan and at times he has long stretches without any work at all. This makes it very difficult to plan or balance a budget. We do not qualify for state assistance.

Like many, we are struggling to make ends meet, and often don't, but I find joy in the simple things.

I joined WUAH to make a wish, but have been greatly moved by reading the wishes of others in need, and hope that I will be able to help some folks along the way.

Update Aug. 2012: My first grandson, Michael Eric was born July 30th. I couldn't be more thrilled. I thought becoming a grandma would just make me feel old, but instead, it just makes me happy! :) Congratulations to my daughter, Sarah, and her husband Michael!
