About Me
I have 3 kids with medical issues, and myself I am disabled. I have not be able to work since 2002. We live on 1 pay for family of 5.
My 16yr old started college 09/2012 with dual HS. Trying to find the funds for her college and books each quarter is really hard. Due to her illness schools wouldn't let her skip a grade for missing too much school. She has taking 6 college classes to graduate HS, since she already met all her HS requirements and her school has no advance course for her. Currently all she needs is English 102 and 2 electives.
We are in a hardship debt program, been on it since 10/2009. After I pay bills we have about $200.00 or less each paycheck. The left over money we have is our food money that we have to use for the transportation to/from medical appointments out of state and if we have any money left over we buy food.
Canceling/closing all credit cards has been extremely hard. We no longer celebrate holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries or eat out anymore. Our goal is to get completely out of debt before my husband retires.
I post wishes for my kids so they can atleast get a card/gift for a Christmas/birthday's; until we can get out of debt. Since being in hardship debt program we have paid off over $60K of credit card debt and 2 surgeries and still have $23K to go. We have no credit cards they all have been shredded since 2008! And my husband only makes $40K a yr. Basically in the past 2yrs lived on $2400yr or so.- $200mo left over money X12mo which mostly went to transportation and car repair vs food.
My wish is to get completely out of debt vs struggling each month on how to come up with money for kids meds, transportation to/from medical appts/surgeries, car repair, tires for cars, college fees/books. My only biggest wish is to be able to buy a van where I can modify it - w/hand controls so I can drive vs having to depend on my husband and his co-workers to take me to medical appointments.
