Hi, I am a 34 year old single mom to two beautiful healthy daughters. I am a survivor of 9/ll (long story) and am HIV positive. I trusted someone too much just over a year ago. I mean afterall, he was to be my husband, he was a retired Army Ranger/Special Forces Officer, what could seem wrong with that? Boy was I wrong, and naive! Anyone can have HIV, no matter their background, social status, the money they make nor military status or lack thereof....nothing matters. You see, I KNOW he gave this virus to me because just a few months before I was diagnosed, I got pregnant (ended up miscarrying, which was a sign from God) and I opted for an HIV test and it was negative. He was the only person I was with, for that matter, at age 33, he was only the 3rd man I had ever been with in my life. I have never done drugs or lived any risky or seemingly dangerous lifestyle. The man who infected me is not the father of my children, thankfully. Their father lives in New York City and is currently not paying child support due to having no job. Shortly before I was diagnosed, I bought my first house and was on my way to a wonderful life with my soon-to-be husband and kids but that was quickly put to a halt. I have been fairly stable over the past year, on treatment and in and out of the lab getting various blood draws to check my immune system and liver functions as the medications are highly toxic. It has been a rough year but I am on my way to finding peace and happiness since I got him out of my life. My daughters and I have managed to keep the house, although it is a struggle, and we try to live day by day with what we have.
