Get People to be More Informed on ESRD & Live Donor transplants

Granted by Heroes: Marinag
My son was born with End Stage Renal Failure. He is currently 15 months and has been diagnose with Stage 5 ESRD and is in need of a kidney transplant. I have noticed that a lot of people are unaware of kidney disease except when it is related to diabetes. I see support groups for children with cancer and other chronic disease but not many for children with kidney disease. I wish I can help get the word out about this disease and work toward finding a more information on how this happens and what can be done to prevent it, as well as informing people about live donor transplant.

mattcedes I am a Wish Ambassador and wanted to let you know that I am spreading the word about living donor transplants as well as ESRF. I feel that there is an urgent need for living donors and a lack awareness about organ donation in general among the general population. With over 112,000 on the transplant list already and nearly twice as many people added daily as the transplants that are taking place the situation is getting desperate. I would gladly be a donor if I could be, because I can't I feel called to help where I can. At the moment it's informing people about what's going on and that living donation is a option, advocating for living donation, and assisting those in need of donors find their match.

Thank you everyone, I got some bad news today that I might be able to donate because of one marking on a test. It a possiblity but nothing that would affect my son if I donate. Which makes me mad. My goal now is to find a possible live donor. We will know for sure If I can not donate on Monday. So please pray that the doctor will look at the whole picture and let me donate.

Saying prayers for you both. My father has 20% usage of his kidneys right now and going downhill. Unfortunately I cannot donate either. Research is very important and I will help spread the word!

Prayers for you and your son. He's beautiful. My dad has kidney disease and it's heartbreaking watching someone you love go through this. Donors are very important. We can't donate to our own father because of a hereditary blood disease. It's terrible. Hoping this site helps you get the word out. God Bless :)

:) Awareness is very important for any and all conditions.. it's the first step!
I am not allowed to donate, but I've done quite a bit of research because it interests me. Live donor transplants are amazing--what a wonderful gift to give someone. :)
