I first saw Luna when I was searching online for a new pet. Living
on my own, I was dying for a pet. The first thing to catch my eye
was how little, fluffy, and adorable she was. I did extensive
research on rabbits, and instantly knew I would be able to give her
a great home. The next day I went to the store and bought all of
the necessary supplies. Later that day, I went to go pick her up
and give her a permanent home. I fell in love with her personality
and her little white patch of fur on her nose that wiggles when she
breathes. I brought my lions-head bunny back home, ecstatic and
absolutely in love.
She loved her new home. She would run all around my room, burrowed
in my clothes drawers that she jumped in and out of, she even
learned how to climb on my bed while I was doing homework to play
with me. She is full of life and energy, and definitely has a very
strong personality.
After months of living on my own, I had to return back home to New
Jersey with Luna. Unfortunately, Luna got hurt the first week I was
home. My mother has a four year old dachshund that we keep away
from the bunny's cage. Her dog pushed open my door, and tried to
"play" with Luna. After this, I immediately took Luna to the vet.
Everything seemed okay, nothing was broken, no infections.
May 29th, I noticed Luna wasn't putting weight on her back right
leg when she was in her play pen. When I picked her up to look at
it, I saw that she had a huge abscess engulfing almost her whole
leg. I took her to the vet on May 30th. After doing X-Rays, they
told me the abscess had traveled to the bone, and I had two
options; amputate the leg at the femur, or put her down.
I am working to pay my way through college, and can not afford this
major surgery myself. The total cost is $1,400, and I have already
saved $610. I'm asking for someone to donate so I will be able to
keep her alive. I love her with all of my heart, and I would not be
able to put her down, so please, someone help keep my baby alive.
