DAV US Army Veteran Hero in need of money to have a safe and secure home.

The American Legion Post 512 Foundation has discovered that one of our local heros is in immediate need.

Greg, a US Army veteran and a dedicated Legionnaire is in immediate need of a safe and secure home for himself and his family including a emotionally disabled family member.

The American Legion made a home visit to this veteran and discovered that this veteran is living in below poverty conditions and was in immediate need of housing.
After a charitable donation the Legion Post 512 Foundation was able to purchase a FEMA travel trailer to provide a temporary solution to Greg's housing.

The foundation has found a lot (1) house over from Greg's home and can purchase this lot for $3,000.00. It is important to stay close to Greg's area for his emotionally disabled brother who needs to have a stable surrounding.

We are currently working for donations of a manufactured home or Building Association assistance as Greg does not qualify for Habitat for Humanity because of his financial situation. Greg is a very hard working person making only minimum wage and only has $68.00 a month in food stamps to provide for 3 family members. The disabled brothers income of $600 which is used for medications and other care decreases the ability for Greg to provide for the family.

Greg is dedicated and very humble and is immediate need of new clothing, groceries, gift cards and other personal items. The family did not even have a single pillow in the home and the towels were used to plug holes in the floors and the ceiling is falling down in the back of the home. They have no working stove or a way to cook any meals.

Whatever you could provide I know Greg would be blessed to accept.

Thank you to all who have supported Greg's wish. Although we did not achieve our goal to get Greg the land for his new home we are truly grateful. We are placing the collected gifts for the down payment on the land and will continue to utilize other fundraising efforts to assist Greg with his wish to become a home owner. Thank you again for all your assistance, gifts, kind words and wishes and continued support of our disabled veterans.

I truely wish that I could help Greg. I am sending my thoughts and prayers to him and his family. I pray that he receives the help and support that he deserves. Please tell him thank you for giving his time to our country from me and my family. I will check back for updates frequently. With luck on my side I will be able to help him soon.

I am so touched with the generosity of the "guest" that have logged in today. There have been some very large gifts that have increased the total for Greg's wish. I cannot thank you all enough. The foundation has been working to help Greg diligently and on behalf of myself and the Foundation I can say you are making all these hours worth while.
