for help while my husband recovers from spinal surgery. :(
My husband hurt his back on June 3rd pretty badly. Unfortunately we were away from home that week, and couldn't get him to the DR until we got home on the 11th. Our DR felt it was very severe and sent him for an MRI.
Long story short, the MRI revealed that Kenny has a badly ruptured disc in his back, as well as many bulging discs & degenerative disease (he is only 26). He has had no feeling or reflexes in his leg since the 3rd, and his been unable to move his foot.
Today we learned that he needs "Immediate Spinal Surgery" to repair the damage, otherwise he will be paralyzed in that leg and foot forever. His surgery will be tomorrow, Friday, or Monday. We aren't sure yet.
He has already missed 20 days of work, and will be out of work for several months. He is our ONLY income as I am disabled (and waiting for disability). We've started the process for short term disability for him, but it won't be nearly enough to cover us and takes awhile to start.
I'm wishing for ANY help you can provide. $1, $5, $10, whatever. Anything will help! We have a house, car, utilities, pets, and ourselves to pay for. We also will have co-pays and medications. Our bank account is dwindling and the fridge is running out. As a vegetarian with Celiac, I have been eating a LOT of pasta because it's cheap, and it's making me sick. I need to be strong for my husband, and he needs to build strength after surgery! I also will need to eat at the hospital. We applied for food stamps but were denied because he got a check June 1. We will reapply in July, but that's still many days. We are going to the pantry tomorrow.
If there is anything you can do to help us, I would so greatly appreciate it. I don't believe I've ever felt so broken, and I've never heard him so defeated. We just need help.
