My husband, Matthew, provided convoy support throughout Iraq and
involved in a number of firefights and subsequently injured when
his vehicle was hit with an IED.
He suffered injuries to his hearing, sleeping, TBI (Traumatic Brain
Injury), PTSD and Arm Injuries & currently rated at 40%
disability with the VA. They are still in the process of reviewing
the remainder of his claim. During his deployment we were in a
financially stable position but upon his return home the position
he held prior to his deployment was no longer available due to a
company layoff. Now he is about to lose his unemployment income.
State Extended Benefits for GA ended in March. Then in June, GA no
longer met the requirements to pay 4th tier benefits due to falling
below the 9.0% rate required. This month the maximum # of weeks for
Emergency Unemployment dropped to 14-20 wks & will drop further
in Sept & all benefits end in Dec unless Congress takes action.
Unfortunately I too became unemployed in March due to a reduction
in workforce companywide layoff. We don’t
qualify for food stamps or other state benefits. We struggle to pay
our Rent & Utilities. We don't have any children in our
household but we are responsible for child support for his son. We
are behind on our truck payments along with the registration being
due on the 23rd of this month. To stop paying for any of our
accounts or to give back the truck is not an option because it will
prevent me from obtaining future employment. The Federal Safe Act
requires clean background, bonded & secured & deemed
“financial sound†according to the
credit bureau in order to maintain my NMLS license. Any form of
delinquency will result in the loss of my license. We are extremely
grateful for any help that you can to provide. Your assistance will
prevent eviction, our lights/water/phone from getting cut off, repo
of our truck, etc. We have no problem with funds being sent
directly to our creditors. Any amount will help & Thank You
