Hello... My name is Tiffany Roach, and I am a mother of a beautiful
14 month old daughter, and I also have a son who is due in
September. My fiance, Jeremy Huntley, is a stagehand with IATSE
Local 9 and has an independent business as an audio technician,
which he has built up over 10-15 years.
Jeremy has mixed for countless bands, locals and projects from all
over the east coast, and several known rock groups such as The
Ataris over the past several years. One of his favorite bands to
work with is Dark Hollow, Central New York's premier Grateful Dead
cover band; he has been their technician for the better part of 4
years. He also provides his services for the "tent stage" at the
Sterling Stage Kampitheater, the Syracuse International Film
Festival, and the Flicks On The Crick series of films in downtown
Syracuse. He also helps put together benefit shows for people in
need of fundraisers, on average, 3 or more each year.
Jeremy has built a reputation as a talented, reliable sound
engineer who could make any band sound and feel like the rock stars
that they are in their hearts.
The problem is this: He had been operating his business on a set of
used Mackie SR1350 speakers and a couple of other piecemeal items,
and the gear he has been working with has failed in a big way. Both
of his SR1530s have been fixed numerous times. His "sound rig" is
now beyond feasible repair, and we are in no position to replace
it. We are barely scraping by, and are living at my parents' house
to try and save up for a better future for our children. His gear
provides anywhere from 25% to over 50% of our monthly income, so
the failure is a devastating blow to us.
Estimates for comparable, reliable equipment run anywhere from
$3000 to $5000. We are hoping to raise some money to defray the
costs of a new sound system. This is our family business, and to
see it fail would be devastating. Anything will help.
