Sept.30/2006 our world as we knew it completely changed. The phone
call from the E.R. doctor we had taken our son to on that Saturday
due to flu like symptoms, did blood to rule out Mono, that T.J.
tested positive for LEUKEMIA! T.J. was 14 years old. He was
admitted to the Pederatric Hemotology/Oncology ward that night! He
had to have several blood transfusion of both red blood &
platelets through that night. The next morning he had a bone marrow
aspriation to determine what type of Leukemia he had. The results
were Acute Lymphoblastic Leulemia (Pro-B) Also know as ALL!
He endured over 200 spinal taps, 250+ blood & platelet
transfusions, countless hours of chemo infusions, liver failure not
once but 3 times & so much more but no room to type it all out
here.
Point being that at the start of our journey on our walk of the
cancer path we learned all too quickly that Childhood Cancers are
not on the map as they should be to help find cures. Well, our
brave HERO SURVIVOR son decided he wanted to help give all the
children & adults with blood and other cancers a BIG VOICE! So
he started to do some research and came up with a HUGE goal. BREAK
THE WORLD RECORD FOR THE LARGEST HATS COLLECTION! Since starting
this adventure we have collected over 27,000 hats and to break the
record he needs 48,000!
He has a website that in the "About T.J." section helps explain in
more detail here at: http://tjsjourney.com/
Ive also placed the next link to an ad that was done by a local
newspaper:
