Thank you flowerlady, I do have a brace , and it does help, my
problem is my neck eversince I fell with my grammy in the tub.Hurts
all the time. I wish I could do the toliet idea, but some crappy
decorator put CARPET in the bathroom. WHY? Who does that? Although
the thought of ripping it out and dealing w/ whatever is underneath
in kinda appealing. I'm researching the cutout, and someone emailed
me about trying a outdoor solar shower. Since I live in the desert,
sun is no problem, and they seem to run about $200. Much more
affordable. I may have to try another wish for a solar outdoor
shower,I can pay for some of that so I would be in such a pickle
trying to scap up the rest. Thank you so much for you ideas, and
just knowing others are out there, who have dealt with these issues
helps a lot! :)

I saw that commercial where they cut out the bathtub too.I am sure
it must be cheaper than the big bathroom remodel. Well, here is my
idea.First, get yourself one of those back braces. The ones the
guys at the grocery stores wears.I have had 6 back surgeries, and if
your back is screwed up, your life is over, at least the one as you
know it.It won't do them or you any good if you don't take care of
yourself first. My DH was sick for many yrs, but the last one was
the worst. I bathed him on the toilet.I could get to his bottom
that way, which as we know, is always the worst.I got a big basin
of warm water and soap and got to it. It made my life a lot easier.
There was no way I could get him in/out of the tub. Most of the
water ran down his back/front into the toilet, but of course I kept
a mop handy.I would do this, and maybe wash them in the tub once a
week. This will truly help you out a lot.If there is anything else
that you need help with, let me know. My DH was sick for 6 yrs.I
know i

Thank you , I've tried medicaid , but they don't assist with home
/environment issues in California. each state deals with their
medicaid differently. It's been almost 4 yrs I've been doing
this, and we were alright for a long time , but the past few months
things have just been getting really hard, and they are getting
less mobile.I'm now researching a thing where they cut an opening
into the side of the tub, kind of making it a walk in. I'm hoping
it may work and not be too expensive.I just wish I was a plumber,I
can do the tiling and grouting, a lot of that type of work, but not
the plumbing or demo. But maybe this bath cutout idea will prove to
be successful.

I wish I could help, I hope you get lots of heros. I do understand
and my heart goes out to you. I used to have the same problem
bathing my dad. There was just no room for the wheelchair, me, dad
and the bath bench. I think getting him back out was the scariest
part. Please be careful with your back and try not to hurt
yourself. I know that medicaid covers walk in showers, not sure
about medicare. Good luck.

Thank you ,for the bench idea. But there is a wall between the
toliet and the bath, and only 2.5 ftin front of the toliet and 3 ft
width to get through the bath. I can get the bench in, but nothing
else, cause the toliet is where she needs to turn and sit.I tried
fliping it the other way, but they only had 6 inches between the
bench and wall. If the wall was not there between the tuyb and
toliet,I could use the toliet to tub transfer bench, but I was
qouted 2000 for the demo of that wall. Thanks again for the idea
and please keep them coming

Thank you for your prayers, I've tried the sponging...fecal
matter,water,wheelchairs,carpet,and parilized people don't mix.
When the pooh is stuck all over her, it's impossible to move her
around while sponging and not get it everywhere. And she is heavy
and hard to even sponge bathe. But once again Thank you so much for
the advice and prayers.:)

God Bless you for caring for your grandparents. Instead of trying
to get them in and out of the shower, could you perhaps just give
them a sponge bath in their wheelchair. Rather than taking the
chance of falling and really getting hurt, for the time being. I
pray for a solution to your problems.
