I am a teacher, and last year our school started an initiative to
raise our poor literacy scores. Each teacher was given money to
start a classroom library where kids could read books when there is
time to in class (for instance, when done taking a test; when there
is a sub; etc), and can check out the books to kids. This
initiative helped raise our junior literacy score from 41% literate
to 75% literate in ONE YEAR.
My library is decent-sized, but kids check out a lot of books, so I
would like to keep it stocked. I am requesting books to keep in my
library. Used books are fine; I just request that they be in good
condition. I am allowed to keep "restricted" books (ones with adult
situations or language), within reason. I am looking ALL SORTS of
books. Fiction (adult fiction AND teen fiction; any genre),
non-fiction, books of comic strips, poetry books, anything. I like
to keep materials of all reading abilities available, as some of
our kids are very low-level readers, which is why I like to keep
books of comic strips. Reading ANYTHING is better than reading
nothing!
You do NOT have to go out and buy a new book to donate, but feel
free to if you wish. I'm mostly just requesting books that you have
laying around that you would like to donate to us.
If you would like to help us out, offer to grant this wish and tell
me what you have, and I will message you the shipping
information.
Thank you!
