I didn't just have to use all our back to school money on this medical procedure

Granted by Heroes: MOVINGON, ckirkman, SNicolaides
The other day I posted a frivolus want but now I have a need and I wish I didn't. :(

I've been very sick the past month with a uti that won't go away. I've been in the hospital 3 times (for a total of 13 days) & they think it might be coming from my bladder. I also had upper gi blockage & also was passing out constantly. Needless to say besides the hospital, i've been seeing a ton of specialists & on a ton of medications.

We have insurance but all our money has gone towards $35 specialist co pays (sometimes 3 a day) & $20 co pays for medications. Plus the $150 ER co pays (6 so far). We haven't even started paying off the hospital bills yet.

But with all that we still had $150 put aside for back to school shopping for our 4 kids. Hannah is going into 8th, Julia is going into 6th, Ian is going into 3rd & Jack is going into K. I know $150 wasn't going to go far but thanks to some friends who have 4 girls a little older then my girls, we got some uniforms & shoes for them.

Today I had to have a cysoscopy done to have my bladder biopsied, they think it might be cancer. My urologist office is in the hospital but its an actual office so we figured a $35 co pay for the procedure. We were wrong, it was the same as an ER copay which is $150 but because they were an office & not the hospital themselves, we couldn't just add it to our bill..they had to have payment up front. So we had no choice but to pay the $150.

My kids desperately need socks, it's our biggest need for school right now, we don't have a single pair left. Plus the boys only have one pair of crocs that they have been wearing all summer & you can't wear crocs to school. Jack is going into K & has never had a backpack so he needs one now and Ian's backpack was so nasty, we had to throw it away at the end of the year.

If anyone can be a hero & help us out as such a tough time, I would be forever grateful and pay it back 10 fold. Thanks so much!

I hope I can post again tomorrow after my results appt at my urologist but I wanted to go ahead and post this wish as granted because I feel super blessed. Thank you so much to my heros for the helping hand, you'll never know how much you helped when help was needed. 3 of my kids will be starting at brand new schools with brand new shoes and backpacks and other supplies and they will feel great!

I had my appointment today and I'm thrilled to say I don't have cancer. I do have interstitial cystitis but I can totally handle that! Of course it was another $35 in specialist appt and $20 in prescription but I'm over the moon and so relieved. Thank you again to my heros, you are so awesome!

I just thought i'd update real quick. I have to go into the hospital for another more in depth cystoscopy tomorrow but they are putting me out this time because it's going to take longer. Thankfully it's a hospital admission so we can just add it to my bill but i'm scared to death. Why would they call so quick and set this new test up so quick? They told me they just needed better biopsies and catches?

Thanks ckirkman, when we get paid on the 15th I will look into these places for lunchboxes. My husband and I sat down this morning and decided it was crazy to only get them each 1 shirt each for 5 days of school a week. So we wrote a $64 (sigh) check for 4 polo shirts and he dropped it off at the school this morning. I am absolutely freaking out because I know I have 1 specialist appt this afternoon and 2 next week at $35 each. So I hope no one minds but i've added a few things to my wish list. With 4 kids home the are eating us out of house and home so i've added a few much needed grocery items that we don't have the budget for right now. Yesterday they had ramen noodles for lunch and today they are having popcorn and toast, I feel like mom of the year.

Check amazon.com they have a wide selection of lunch boxes. Also have seen some on clearance at LLBean, but it's been a few days so they might be gone now.

p.s. Anyone know where to get inexpensive pre teen lunch boxes? I looked at walmart and all they had was character stuff!

Thanks again to my newest hero, I still am in awe that there are such beautiful people out there, my girls are thrilled that they will also be getting something NEW for their brand new school this year. I slept most of the day today, still in alot of pain unfortunately.

The embroidered polos are non negotiable :-( It's a charter school not a public school so they are allowed around some of the "rules" per say and it's a marine charter so they go on alot of field trips and want the kids in the logo shirts. So they made the shirts mandatory for every day. If you don't wear your shirt, they will give you one and bill you for it. We are brand new to the school, I hate to make any waves ya know? School starts the 20th, we will HAVE to buy them each at least one to start with and they have to be ordered now to get in time. But hopefully when we get paid on the 15th, we can push off a bill or two and get them at least one more each. The price for them just seems so inflated to me?

Don't let yourself get overwhelmed, call the school or go in person and ask about exceptions to the policy. Sometimes what is printed in the handbook, is not carved in stone. I know with my neices, what the school had online about their SMOD (uniform policy) changed in the first week of school.

To make matters even worse... my husband went to pick up the paper work with the handbook for my girls brand new school this year. My 13 year old has gone to the same private school for 9 years and 11 year old for 7 but had to pull them out this year for middle school due to finances. We found a great magnet school but found out tonight, the uniforms we got for them from friends are useless. We have to BUY embroidered shirts from the school and it's the only shirts they can wear. They are $16 each. I don't know how we are going to be able to afford this... seriously looking at getting them one each and making sure they wear a lot of deoderant so they can wear 2 days before washing. One of our biggest weights off our shoulders when leaving the private school was no more "specific" uniforms and here were are again. I gotten to such a negative point I just want to cry, like what's next... did I do something wrong to deserve all this grief all of a sudden? I'm trying so hard to be s

I just woke up after a long nap, i'm in a ton of pain from the procedure (is this normal?) I might be in pain but my heart is full of joy though. That there are such wonderful people in the world that would help out someone like me. I thank my heros from the bottom of my heart.

I hope it doesn't turn out to be bladder cancer, but if it does please PM me. My husband has been dealing with it for 8 years now and we are on his second occurence, but he is doing great and still working 50-60 hours a week.
