I am the wife of a disabled veteran. Ever since my husband got
medically retired from the army (25,april,2012) it has been a
constant struggle for him to find work and pay our bills. He is
getting unemployment but it does not cover the bills we have
accumulated. He is trying his best. My husband suffured spinal
injuries during his deployment to iraq in 2010. He continued his
tour unaware of the serious nature of the injury to his spine. He
was medically retired at a 30 percent rating, but due to an aer
loan and other money that we owed to the army we only receive 38
dollars a month currently. Our phones have been shut off because we
could not pay the bill, we are a week behind on our rent which isnt
the first time since we have been in Indiana, i dont know how long
our landlord will put up with our late payments. We have applied
for food stamps and cash assistance and have been denied. My
husband has been working odd jobs which have seriously taken a toll
on his back for the worse. He is a great husband and father. He has
raised my son as his own since my son Gavin was 2 years old. Gavin
is currently nine and my husband has adopted him. We have a son
together his name is Kden who is turning 6 this month. We are in
serious financial crisis. I personally am a certified dog trainer
and a clinical massage therapist, and i have not been able to find
a job through extensive searching that utilizes my particular
skills in this area. It has been extremely difficult and has taken
a huge toll on our relationship. I am truly scared that if we do
not find some help we will be forced to move in with family that
truly cannot support us either. We currently owe 500 dollars on our
rent that was due on the first of the month. Our landlord who is a
nice man said he couldnt give us any longer than
tomorrow(friday,August 10th 2012. Without help i honestly do not
know what is going to happen. I want to thank you and everyone at
