Hi, My name is Amy and my Service dog is Lucas, aka Luke, a two
year old German Shepherd, a working assistance animal, now ready to
begin mobility work. Bold lead Designs, and Katrina Boldry, of
http://www.boldleaddesigns.com is prepared to make us a custom
fitted leather mobility harness, the best available, with ergonomic
handle that folds down for under tables in restaurants, sturdy, yet
light weight, and sheep skin lined for the comfort and ease of use
for the Service Dog.
I have never asked for money before, never even done a fund raiser,
but this item is important for my freedom and independence. Luke
and I appear often as guests at presentations about Service Dogs,
educating the public on access laws, training, costs, and other
related issues. Luke has been in training in public since he was 11
weeks old. He not only provides counter balance and mobility, he is
my Psychiatric Service Dog. Not an emotional support dog or comfort
animal, but trained to mitigate my disabilities through work and
tasks that assist me in need. We go to stores, restaurants, Dr
appointments, classes, the bus, local events, and everywhere
together. Many people don't know what a service dog is, or what all
they can do.
Luke is trained to get me back to my "safe place", my car, when we
are out in public and I begin to feel ill. He loves to help me in
many ways. He watches me, is acutely aware of my moods, and if I
begin to show signs of distress, he insists on getting me out of
the stressful environment, and he watches me until my breathing and
heart rate have returned to normal. We are very bonded,
This is a MEDICALLY NECESSARY DEVICE that insurance doesn't help
pay for. Any contribution helps! More importantly, pass the
information along to family and friends that can help too!
Thank you for reading about me and Luke!
