I'm devastated that my daughters' father was killed in action in
Afghanistan earlier this year and that he won't be here to help me
raise her and watch her grow up. We had just started dating when he
deployed the first time and needless to say, we got the best
surprise of all. I literally am not even adequately putting food on
the table without help at this point and I'm feeling overwhelmed.
As a parent, others of you can relate - we can go without and not
even bat an eyelash but with Chrismas on its way and knowing I
don't have the means to provide anything under the tree (well, we
don't even have a tree) - but you know what I mean, I can't give
her anything on her 2nd Christmas. We were told in our town that
there just wasn't the funding for the Helping Holiday Hands project
this year. We aren't asking for much, she's thrilled with books -
they are her favorite, we sit and read for hours *well she listens,
I read), a baby doll - a coloring book. This child is such a
wonderful little girl, her "BIG TREAT" is getting an apple at the
food pantry from the veggie lady on Thursday nights, she's such an
appreciative little girl. Please help me in making her a quaint
little Christmas. I hate asking for handouts, so if nothing else,
if you could send some prayers our way - we could really use them.
It's been a hard, long year and I really want to see a smile on my
little sweetie's face this Christmas! :) Thank you, so so much!
