My beautiful granddaughter Katelyn will be 14 on Dec. 7th.
She has gone through some major struggles in her young life.
A little over a year ago my daughter left her husband of 9 years
after he abused Katelyn for trying to protect her mommy from
him.
Katelyn lived through 9 years of watching her mother be physically
and verbally abused. She was terrified to tell as was my
daughter.
When they first moved here from New Jersey, Katelyn had some major
struggles. Even though the life she had lived was horrible, leaving
it behind was hard for a 12 year old.
She had good friends there that she had to leave behind without
ever having the chance to say goodbye.
She began cutting and blaming herself for everything that had
happened.
Not only had she lost all her friends she also lost a whole family.
Even though he treated her and her mother horrible to Katelyn he
was her dad and his family was her family.
After they left the whole family totaly disowned Katelyn. Not her 2
younger half sisters (who are his). The 2 sisters are constantly
showered with gifts and clothes and trips. Just in this past year
they have been to Disney for 2 weeks, Cape Cod and Canada. Katelyn
even asked to go and was told no.
Last Christmas they got laptops and ipods.
Katelyn got nothing from them. She had been a part of there family
since she was 1.
Even though we got Katelyn the emotional help she needed and she is
doing awesome now, I know it hurts her deeply. She loved these
people. They were her grandparents, aunt and cousins.
Financialy my daughter and I just can't do special things for
Katelyn. It's hard enough just trying to get what she needs. More
then anything Katelyn wants a new red laptop. We bought her a cheap
used one last Christmas on ebay but it died over the summer.
I know this wish is huge and I honestly don't expect it to be
granted but she is definately worth wishing for. Maybe her hero is
out there and will read this heartfelt wish from her mom mom.
