Well...it has become official...we are struggling due to hurricane
sandy...all the money we had set aside for bills, had to be used to
get by (buying pre-made food and supplies during the storm). During
the storm, hubby was out of work for a week, which drastically put
us behind in bills (which we pay weekly). Our power was off for
days, and though it is back on, our food had gone bad. We have
three children who remained safe and fairly warm at their
grandparents house while my husband (who drives an emergency
vehicle) and I drove around helping others from flooding, downed
power lines, and housing damages due to branch/trees falling. We
even helped a man, one town over, because a tree fell on him and he
was trapped....he is now safe and home with his family. But now, we
are facing shut-offs for water and electric and are behind in rent.
We went to the local food pantry and were able to get a few things,
but because of medical conditions, the majority of what was
available, we had to give away because we cannot eat it. When I
tried to go to other available pantries but we were told that by
law, you can only use one pantry per month. We are really
struggling and my children are growing so fast that with this
weather getting colder and colder, we may end up being hermits this
winter, huddled by the space heater. My house is even cold because
we cannot afford the extremely high gas heat bill and we do not
qualify for assistance. Please, anything that can be done to help,
is extremely appreciated. We need food (nothing with tomatoes in
it), warm clothing (sizes 10 and 7 in girls, shoe sizes girls (not
toddler)5 and girls 10) This is for my three girls (ages 9, 5 and
4) any winter outerwear would be great too due to our basement
flooding. We were also only able to salvage one space heater so one
or two of those would be great too. As far as bills...we are still
looking for help there too, but God has a plan, and that's the only
way we can look at it. Thank you
