Cancer Patient lost everything Hurricane Sandy with kids nowhere to call home.

Granted by Heroes: AngelsofGod, vero, cocoperlGA, judi1054, heaven
On October 29th our lives changed forever. It took just 1 long night and a hurricane named Sandy.Myself and my children as well as our dog were trapped on the 2nd floor of our home for 3 days.We then were able to get to our towns emergency shelter. After 4 days we were sent to the Red Cross disaster shelter as all municipal shelters were closing. When the red cross decided to close the disaster shelter we were moved to a motel. But fema will only pay for it till the 28th.Our home has been deemed uninhabitable. Our street Macarthur Avenue in Sayreville not only had flash flooding from the River and a lake but the sewage treatment plant on our street mixed into the flood water. We cannot go home and we have nowhere to go.We lost almost everything we own and what didn't get wet from the flood is growing mold from the rest of the house.

I am a brain cancer patient. My cancer has spread to my spinal cord and I cannot work. We have nothing and need to start our lives over again.you can read some of my story on kinshipcircle.org look under hurricane sandy survivor survivor stories look for Christy and nanook there is a pic of me and our dog and one of my kids with our dog.due to this tragedy I have missed my daily radiation treatments.

I have no sound on this computer to watch that video, but I know exactly what happened to so many residences as I reside in South Jersey. I truly hope your Cancer improves as well. I am suffering horrid symptoms myself. The $20 per visit dr and I believe it to be Crohn's, but I cannot afford the healthcare I need right now to diagnose it. I understand your struggle. All we can do is pray for assistance. #JerseyStrong

I know how you feel! My home was damaged from Hurricane Sandy, but not as severe as yours. FEMA did not help much. I am so sorry. I wish I could help you and if I ever can, I will.
