GRANTED!

Wish Granted by: WalkOnFoundationInc Nov 15, 2009

I WISH for a headstone for my daughter's grave

Our beautiful daughter Ashley passed away unexpectedly on 9/5. She was 19 yrs old. She had struggled with mental health and addiction issues for the last five years, but she was finally on the road to recovery. She had finished a recovery program, was enrolled in a community college in CA and was all set to move out there from where we live in WI. She went out with some friends two nights before she was supposed to leave and ended up overdosing on methodone. I found her in her bed the next morning. We buried her four days later. It has left my husband and I as well as her 16 yr old sister just devestated. Although we had some life insurance for her, it was just enough to cover the funeral expenses and final medical costs because she had no medical insurance. When we went to price headstones, we realized that there is just no way we could ever afford one. I work part-time as a cashier and my husband is a dispatcher for a small trucking company. We are struggling just to meet our monthly obligations. I know that we have the rest of our lives to buy a headstone, but we won't be able to anytime in the near future and it just breaks my heart when I go visit her at the cemetary and all she has is a small name plaque. I am not asking for anything elaborate, just something to mark her final resting place. I know that our girl is at peace now and no longer has to struggle with her mind or her addictions and that gives me some comfort. I just feel terrible that we can't provide that one last piece for her. We would be etnernally grateful for any help we can get with this.
Thank you for your time. My email is kslesarik@yahoo.com

I wish to offer my condolences and sympathy to your family concerning this tragic death. Any death of a child is especially tragic and often difficult to come to terms with. Praying you find strength in one another. May God grant you Peace.

Maybe you can post your mailing address so some of us can send you what we can. I would advise to get a P.O. Box so there will be no problems. You and your family are in my prayers.

I am so very sorry. This sounds exactly like my cousin's story. He died 4 years ago yesterday at the age of 25. He had just completed rehab and his life was finally on track. He and his girlfriend got into a fight and he told one of his friends he was going to use "just one more time". He died in his sleep of an otherdose of meth. You are in my prayers.
