I WISH for a flute for my youngest daughter who wants to start band.

My youngest daughter Katie Lynn, is wanting to start band in the fifth grade, just 4 months from now. She wants to play the flute. I have looked at flutes, both new and used and can not afford to purchase one, let alone rent one for her at this time. I beleive that every child should have a thing that they love to do, for my other three daughters, it was gymnastics, dance and cooking. My yuongest has always loved the symphony and loves the sound of the flute. Now she just turned 10 a few days ago and I was going to get her a flute for her birthday, but when Iseen what they cost, I was taken back. Her only wish is that she is able to get a flute soon so that she can start practicing now. If there is anyone out there who can help, either by donations or know of someone who has a flute and has no use for it any longer please let me know. For the time being my daughter is practicing with a plastic toy flute. Please help my daughter.

    I have an Emerson student flute and music stand. I got them from a freecycler a few years ago because my daughter told me she wanted to learn to play and then she never took band at school. When I was given the flute,I was asked to pass it along to another music lover later as a gift and I am in the process of moving and would like to get it out of the closet.

    Im a floutest. and thats all i love. I have something called a piccolo. its what i learned first. its alot easier for someone who has little fingers. and it will make her look cool cause hers fits in her pocket. LOL. and id love for her to have my first piccolo.

    I feel so bad, I didn't get any notification I had messages in my inbox and didn't know that the wish had been accepted, I got the first notice today and my boyfriend donated the flute with some other items in our moving process. I am so sorry I no longer have it as promised. Please, if anyone else can help with this wish, there is a little girl expecting a flute and now I can't fulfill my promise as expected because of a glitch in the system...I thought no response was coming because there didn't show until today.

    What a wonderful thing you are doing BrownEyedCowgirl! My sister played the flute and my niece (her daughter) is graduating this May as a floutist from Eastman School of Music. These instruments can be prohibitively expensive (Haley's was over $20K!!!!) but we should never have to deny a child the opportunity to find music.
    I applaud you brym2010 for encouraging your children to broaden their horizons!

    I would love for her to have this. It is one of the instruments that has been suggested, but she wasn't sure. She loves the sound and the way the flute looks. She is only ten, but can produce notes through our neighboors trombone, but she is too small to play it. Send me an email and I will give you my address.

    Most schools dont do loaners for liability reasons(flutes are very expensive). And the piccolo is a certified instrument. I was looking to sell but this makes me feel much better knowing its going to such an aspiring young musician. it is all the same keys and notes as the flute and the same tone just an ocative higher. i absolutely loved the sound of it when i was her age.

    I am also looking into getting this wonderful child a flute donated. :) i will come pace and email you maam

    When she starts band next year, won't they have "loaners" available to the students for the school year? It sounds like the piccolo that BrownEyedCowgirl is offering is a great beginner instrument to learn the notes with.
