I WISH Lillian's Heart Needs Your Heart

My granddaughter, Lillian is 2 1/2 and will be having her third open heart surgery on July 23rd. She was born with 5 heart defects, and has been though more in her short life than anyone I know.

Lillian's mother, my daughter, Lorissa is a single mother and works very hard to make ends meet, and take care of Little Lillian. The doctors expect that Lorissa will need to take about a month off of work to take care of her before, after and during the hospital stay for this surgery.

I am hoping and praying for a hero for Lorissa and Lillian. They will need money to pay for the bills during this time so they do not become homeless. I am disabled myself with heart/lung disease and can not help them in this way.

They will need money for rent, which is $625.00 for their one bedroom apartment, and about $125.00 for electric, and $100.00 for car insurance. They will also need food, and non food items while they are home.

They do not have "extra's" like cable, phone, internet, etc.

Also, if anyone would like to help with small gifts that we can bring to the hospital, that would be great. It will be hard to keep a 2 year old entertained in bed, but she will not be able to get up right after surgery. (we are not sure how long that will be yet)

  Hi,
  I wanted to update everyone. We are still looking for some HERO'S!! Lillian has an upcoming heart cath (next week) to make sure her heart is okay for surgery on July 23rd.
  
  Also, it was my birthday (Lillian's grandma) last week, and she got excited to "read" my birthday cards....so I was wondering if anyone would like to send her a card while she is in the hospital. You can send them to me, and I will be checking my mail and seeing her every day.
  
  We really appreciate everyones help for Lillian, and I know that one day she will help someone because of the help she once got. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

  Oh I hope you didn't think I meant she doesn't need any help, I KNOW she does! While mom is out of work, SSD will give her a boost- have her call her caseworker and tell her the plans for surgery and how long she will be out of work, how much income she will make etc. and ask that they put that in the computer ASAP so that she will not have to wait a couple months before they give her the extra SSD.
  Also, I understand that even with food stamps, medicaid, and wic it is still hard money wise to be a single mom of a disabled child, believe me I do!
  Public Housing is the ONLY way I can make it on my own with a disabled child, my rent for a 3 bedroom apartment is only $ 530 a month all utilities and yard work included.
  I get wic, food stamps($100 a month), and medicaid to cover all medical expenses too. If she makes over $1000 a month from her job, her daughter's ssd should only go down to about $500 a month. If she makes less than that her daughter should recieve the maximum.

  hi i wanted to let you know that you will be in our prayers...these heart children area mystery they could be in the hospital from several days to several weeks and one of the big things is keeping the kids busy they get very bored fast..heart huggss ann proud to be zacharys nannie hlhs

  Just wanted to thank everyone for the suggestions. My daughter does get some SSD for Lillian, but it is not enough to cover all of their bills. They hardly have enough money to make ends meet with my daughter working. She does get WIC, and food stamps, but not enough to cover all of their needs. I am asking for help during this time because of the surgery, my daughter will have to take some time off of work and it is my hope that she will not have the added stress of bills around the time of the surgery. Lillian is very sensitive to her mother, and I am hoping to lesson the stress for them.
