to help my 17 year old pregnant alone friend with baby items

My friend Erika is 17 years old. She is pregnant with her first baby, 7 months. She is having a baby girl and naming her Iliana Marie. The father of her baby ran out on her, as young fathers usually do. She really needs a lot of help. I have tried going to goodwill and trying to get things for her but haven't got much from there, and cannot afford too much for her as I am a single mom as well. She is still going to school thank god so she cannot work. I told her I would help her in anyway that I could. So I saw some ads that moms post on here and thought I would give it a shot. Her family are not much help at all. They are almost completely broke and all the way in San Diego about 2 hours away. His family is not around. She needs many things. She still does not have a car seat to bring the baby home in. Also she decided to breastfeed so if anyone has any supplies for that..pads, pump.. I don't know because I formula fed mine. She was going to have a baby shower, but the ones throwing it for her bailed. On her registry she had things like a bouncer, a jumperoo, an exersaucer, a walker, an umbrella stroller, towels, baby bath stuff, and other baby necessities. If someone who sees this ad can help by sending her items, buying her items, or sending money via paypal to get items, please let us know. You can email me at maggie91406@gmail.com or our paypal is kittyp123@live.com. Thank you all.. here is some things she needs

*Car Seat
*Stroller
*Bouncer
*Bassinet
*Playpen
*Breast Pump
*Walker
*Jumperoo
*Exersaucer
*Bath Items
*Carrier
*Diaper Bag
*Anything else necessary for a new mom

I have a baby girl and would like to send her a small package with some clothes and perhaps some blankets, it may be about a month til I can afford to mail but I will promise to send it since she isnt due for a couple months. I can't afford to send anything big, but look for a local freecycle ( either google freecycle and then you can put in your area, or you could also try going to "yahoo groups" and then search for groups such as "reuseit" or recycle+your city. You may be able to find people wishing to give these items free of charge. Craigslist has a baby/kid items section but be careful to check for product recalls=)

    Best,melissa

also....wic will not give u a breastpump you said. wondering what insurance she has, i had fidelis, they sent me a maunal one when they found out i was pregnant and breastfeeding, maybe she should give a call, and in the hospital when she pumps, they will let her use a hospital grade electric but if she asks for a manual im positive they will give her one, they gave me one, and its nice b/c its free. and if shes in need of an electric one, a very nice brand i have used is teh evenflo select comfort, 45 for a single electric battery or plug in pump, w storage bags and breatpads, 55 or 60 for the double, but its a very nice and affordable pump. tell her to stock up on lotions and samples fromt he hospital, theyw ill give her lansinoh nipple cream small little trial tubes, let hre know to ask for a few of them and they last a very long time, mine i had 4 tubes, lasted me well beyond breastfeeding after i stopped at 5 months i still have 2 tubes left you need very little.. im going now. lo

its a newborn to toddler rocker its 35 at target and they have a cute version of same thing at wlmart for 50 a little more useful its a rocker/vibrator chair with toys and music that last up to 50 lbs so they can use it for YEARS it is strong enough and they can use it as a chair as they get older. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8072092

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5734139

and most hospitals give out diaper bags when the mother and baby go home w/ samples of lotions and formula its a cute plain black diaper bag, so if she dont get a diaper bag shell be fine. if she was having a boy i would be able to send clothing items but i never got my lil girl. (i will tho) gluck to her sorry for the extremely long post, i am trying to help out!

my sons dr discourages walkers very much,a dn they have been banned in canada for 10 yrs, so if they are all doin good, i dont think a babys gonna not grow up right b/c they didnt have a walker.seee if there are any local programs like police depts fire houses, or county buildings that can offer advice onw here to get free certified carseats, its a BAD idea to get a used carseat, u never know if its been in an accident, they expire, and you better off spending the money to get a new one or get a free one fromt he certified places i mentioned. also try www.craigslist.org http://my.freecycle.org/login for new and used stuff. craigslist is buying things freecycle is free items. www.uanditrade.com maybe start a wishlist or baby registry it would be easier for ppl to hel out if they know what she wants and i found an AWESOME seat, its not a bouncer but it suits the purpose just right

i cannot help but i can offer advice. a walker is a bad idea, i know most parents want to see their children runnin around the house in these things, but its an accident waiting to happen, they can bump into things, hot water can spill on them falldown stairs, a jumperoo or exersaucer are JUST as well, jumperoo's and exerwsaucers are basically the saem thing, so maybe one instead of both would be suffiecient, plus thinka bout where she will store all this stuff when she no longer needs them. for the bassinet, it will maybe be cheaper to get a cosleeper, or a bedside sleeper, i paid 60 for my co sleeper at toys r us, its a little mini lookin bassinet that just sits in the bed with you and the baby cannot roll nowhere, cheaper, and the baby is close to you, AMAZING for breastfeeding, and instead of a stroller right away if noone can get it for her, get a baby carrier thing that goes on your back, very soothing for baby and good for mother and baby bonding.

We check out craigslist and freecycle all the time but I can't be on the computer a lot because I work and have 2 kids myself, so by the time I see, they are gone.. WIC will not give us a breast pump.. I do not know why.. they said they can give her formula so that she can alternate but they have no breast pumps?? I know we really need one so if any one can pass one down, we would appreciate it and thank you all for your comments already.. your GREAT!!!

You're a good friend to this young lady..the baby's name is beautiful! I hope and pray all goes well for her and that heros grant all the needs...I would be seeing about child support, too...it's not too early and the father has a financial responsibility for this child. May God bless all of you and take care of you, especially this new one soon to make her debut....good luck!

I hope you can find some heros. Also try checking yardsale. I got a awing, high chair, and walker for a total of $5 a few weeks back. Good luck and take care.

Local Police dept or fire departments usually give you a new baby seat. Someone in town will. Please check. That would be one thing off the list.

May I suggest Craigslist and Freecycle for many of those items? Lots of people are willing to pass on baby gear and clothes since babies out grow them so quickly. Also, she ought to apply for WIC even if she is breast feeding they wll help her to stay healthy and to insure the baby's health.
Blessings
