I wish for help covering the co-pays for my son's recent Dr. appt.
and precriptions.
My 2 year old son went to his pediatrician yesterday for a check up
to see how he was doing after having wheezing problems 2 weeks ago.
The Dr. wanted to put him on Pulmicort to prevent any wheezing
flare-ups. Before the new medicine had time to start working, he
had problems breathing last night and kept gasping and coughing. I
called the emergency after hours number and the Dr. told me to give
him Albuterol breathing treatments every 20 minutes for the next
hour until he was better. I had to give him 2 treatments, 20
minutes apart until he was able to breathe normally.
This morning when I called his Dr. to tell them what happened last
night, his Dr. said she wants him to also start taking Singulair
everyday until winter, as well as the Pulmicort treatments for the
next month, and Albuterol treatments for at least the next 2
weeks.
Although we have already paid for his Dr. appt ($15) and the co-pay
for the Pulmicort ($40), I still need to pickup his Singulair
prescription which is ($35). I would like to find heroes to help
recoup the unexpected expenses that we have had to pay out of our
pocket. Our financial situation is very tight (even though my
husband works 18 hour days, 4 days a week). We do not have money
for extras. Now we do not have money for our weekly groceries and
diapers.
Also, I would love for heroes to send my son some "busy" toys for
him to use while doing his breathing treatments. Books and cartoons
seem to keep his mind off the treatments the best.
In the last 16 hours, he has done 9 breathing treatments. It is
very hard to get him to sit still and keep the mouthpiece in his
mouth (he HATES the mask). I would love for him to have new toys to
keep him busy!
Sorry if this is a little confusing, I am absolutely exhausted and
SOOO worried about my little guy.
Thank you all for reading my wish.

Thank you SO much to everyone who helped with my wish. My son is doing so much better. The Dr. believes that the breathing troubles were caused by allergies. I'm hoping it freezes over soon!
Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much to all of my kind heroes for helping me in my time of need. I am so thankful that my son is starting to feel a little better and requiring less breathing treatments per day.

We would be happy to help with your wish today. A $50 store gift card would be the best way. Let us know where to send it and we'll get it out quick. We hope the little one soon gets over being sick. Best wishes, Quiet Angels

Yes, it is so hard to remember to rinse his mouth out with the Pulmicort but not the Albuterol.

Amy, Michael was the same way. Really cally doctor and ask about Zopenex. It is a true blessing. No hyperactivity. Especially great at night...does not interfere with sleep. Ok so I just had to start the Pulmicort this morning. uggggg These poor kids. Did you peds tell you to rinse his mouth after the pulmicort treatment and not to get it in his eyes?

Thanks Lori! He is so miserable, but I'm hoping the meds start to work soon. I know the Pulmicort takes a little while to start working. The Albuterol makes him VERY hyper.

Amy, my son is on the exact same medication. The singulair has worked great for Michael.
Not sure if your peds ever tried Zopenex for the nebulizer yet, same as albuterol but less side effects. I just started Michael tonight back on treatments. Hope your little man feels better soon!!! (((HUGS))) Lori

Amy, it certainly is hard to sleep at night when your little guy is sick.
I'm so sorry he's not well and pray he has a speedy recovery.

There is a generic for the Pulmicort for nebulizers, but my insurance would only cover a name brand. The medicine cost $525, but my insurance covered all but $40. That ends up being $9 per treatment!
I did go pick up the Singulair at the pharmacy, and they honored my coupon so I only had to pay $15 for it.
We bought the medicine because my son NEEDS it to help him breathe, but now we are broke until next Friday.

If the pulmicort is the nebulizer stuff, then there is a generic for those now. The dosage may be off a little bit, but I'm sure if you talk to the doctor he can figure out what would be best for him. You have co-pays so you should have a generic co-pay for that one.

Yes, the prescription is for the chewables. The Dr. office was all out of samples, but told us to try next month to see if they get more in.
