I WISH For Clean Drinking Water

I am a single mom who is disabled with an auto-immune deficiency disease. I have 2 children who still live at home, but have been seperated from my husband for over a year. We have just found out recently that our private well is contaminated with fecal matter & coliform. We've had problems with dirt & discoloration before, but now we can't drink it at all and I simply cannot afford to buy water. We have no access to hook up to a city or county system as they aren't available in our rural community. Everybody here has private wells.

I have applied for a loan from the state of Virginia to get help to fix my well with a special system, but my bills outweigh my income, therefore I was turned down.

There is a program which I have found that can take care of this problem, since I can't afford to do so. It is called The Children's Safe Drinking Water Program. For .10, you can provide 1 packet of PUR which will clean 10 liters of water. For $1.00, this is enough water for 50 days. It's so easy to boil water for drinking, but that doesn't get rid of the dirt in the water, and it doesn't insure my children are safe since they also use water to brush their teeth,take a bath, etc. Also, my having an auto-immune disease means every time I might not get the water right, I'm subject to more serious health problems.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could at least send me one packet of the PUR product to help us out. I'm desperate for help and don't know where else to turn :(

  I received my shipment of PUR purifier of water packets this morning and am getting ready to mix my 1st batch shortly. For the 1st time in many weeks, I am going to have clean & safe water to drink, without having to go get it somewhere else :)
  
  I am so humbled by the generosity of each of you who had a hand in making my wish come true! From the bottom of my heart, Thank You, you have no idea how much this means to me, but especially to my children!!!

  To klr1981, you are correct, the link you provided is the product I was talking about, although Walmart has it for less: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10098760 These are the ideal items since they are the least expensive.
  
  What we will eventually have to do is to get a whole house system, one that has an ultraviolet light to kill bacteria among other things. Right now my main concern is the bacteria that is harmful to us all, which the mix kit from Walmart can take care of. I could never ever ask anyone to help with the whole house system, as they are very expensive and will have to be custom made for our particular problems. Since we have bacteria, sand, sediment, high iron & low PH, no one system can take care of it all. Hopefully, right now, I can get us clean & safe drinking water, and I can take care of the rest within a few years.

  On Target it is $13.49 for a six pack which I believe would be enough for a year according to what you state above. Please check all this out and let me know if I am reading things correctly. Thanks
