A Happy Birthday To End A Rather Sad Year...

My 44th birthday is on September 16th. I'd like to have a really happy birthday this year. 2010 has been a very sad year for me. My Mom passed away in January. I lost three other family members and several friends this year also. Needless to say - my heart still hurts. I won't be getting a home-made birthday cake from my Mom this year. She usually makes a cake or cupcakes.

What would make me happy is home-made cookies and goodies. Not just for me, but to share with the homeless folks too. I know they hardly ever get to celebrate their birthdays. Also, I'd love to adorn my apartment with birthday cards. As far as a gift that would make me happy, I would like to be able to have a birthday luncheon for the homeless folks here. Not only will I celebrate my birthday, but we can all share a birthday party, probably at The Refuge.

I would need to buy soda, chips, a few cakes, party decorations, cups, plates and napkins. Also, I'd like to be able to give them all a Dunkin Donuts gift card to spend on themselves.

My Mom used to love volunteering with me at The Refuge and wherever else I helped out. I think she'd like to see a nice. big party for everyone. I know it's asking a lot. But. if it's not possible, I'm happy to share whatever I get with them even if we can't have enough for a party.

Of course, I'd be happy with just well wishes and cards too. I love you all. Hugs!

Thank you all for all the beautiful and thoughtful birthday cards and gifts. You helped make my birthday very special this year. I will use the birthday funds to have a luncheon and birthday party for the homeless folks in the next week or so. Thank you all for being my heroes. I love you all.

It's not even my birthday yet and you've all made me happy already. Thank you so much. I discussed with my cousin who operates The Refuge about having a birthday party every month for those homeless who have birthdays each month. So, we may just do that too beginning in October. Everyone will have a birthday party.

You may want to have the category of the wish changed to Cards & Things, in order for the card offers to be appropriate. Otherwise, they are likely to be moved to Comments. Remember, a special category has been created for CARDS, which still allows for others types of offers/gifts. I'm sure this will be a memorable birthday.

Mark, you share your birthday with my youngest and you wanting to celebrate your birthday with those less fortunate is very admireable.
What is the name and phone number of a good bakery in your area? How many people would you think would be at this party? I know I can google bakeries but I am sure you know the good ones in your area. Are you wanting to host this party on September 16th?
I would be honored to make ome phone calls to see if I can get you a cake to celebrate with those you hold so close to your heart.
