My Mother has been diagnosed with Stage IIB Grade 3 Breast Cancer.
It was in a lymph node and was 3CM large. She has had a masectomy
and is getting her portacath put in Friday to get ready for chemo.
The chemo will make her hair fall out. She is fighting for me and
for my son (her grandson). He is 3 years old. She wants to see him
grow up. I do not have the money to get her the wig. I have found
one that is just her style at tlcdirect.org They sell wigs at
wholesale prices and are affiliated with the American Cancer
Society. The wig is called Bonnie and is number 8047 in their
catalog. It costs $45.00. There are 2 wig liners for $12.00 that
she needs because she has a sensitive scalp. Shipping for all of
this is $6.00. Please, please someone help my mother. My husband
lost his job when he had some seizures back in July. He is on
unemployment because they fired him because he can no longer drive
an 18 wheeler. The unemployment does not cover all of our bills. We
had medical bills before but, my husband was on life support and
put in a coma to save his organs. His kidneys failed but, are OK
now. He is on Kepra for seizures and it is very expensive. I am
having surgery on Tuesday for a deviated septum. I keep getting
sinus infections that are becoming harder and harder to get rid of.
I will keep getting these infections unless I have surgery. The
surgery will open up my left nostril which is pinched off. That is
why I keep getting sinus infections. I can't help my Mother get
through chemo if I have a sinus infection. Her immune system will
be low and I don't want to give her an infection. I feel terrible
about the added medical bills but, I can't risk her life. She will
need a size large wig. She needs the sunkissed blonde color. Please
help my Mother.

The wig arrived but, it was the wrong size and color. I contacted the company and have sent the wig back. They will be sending the right wig as soon as they receive the first one back. They have assured me they have the wig in the size and color that my mother needs. The wig liners were the correct size. Thank you walk on heroes for making chemo treatments a little easier for my Mother to get through. You really are an answer to prayers.

Thank you Walk On Heroes. This means so much to my family. We had no way to get the wig or the liners for my Mother. Your fullfillment of this wish will give my Mother comfort, & confidence to get through the chemotherapy and God willing beat this breast cancer. As soon as my family's financial situation improves, I promise I will pay this forward. Thank you

Several people have asked me to put a paypal link on here but, I can't edit the wish due to one of the suggestions being listed as an offer to grant. My wish is for a specific wig that looks like my Mother to make going through chemo easier on her as losing your hair is like losing a part of your identity. I am checking wigh CancerCare but as now this wish has not been granted. On a previous wish, I have a link to my paypal account and would appreciate any help anyone can give my Mother.

I talked with my Father and insurance will not pay for the wig. They say it's cosmetic. They will pay for a prosthesis, if my Mother wants one. The law says insurance has to pay for a prosthesis but, it didn't include wigs. :-(

I will look into the CancerCare tomorrow. I have great news. My Mother-In-Law said my Mother could have the supplies we had bought for her when she was fighting non hodgkins lymphoma last year. We now have shampoo, hairspray, lustershine, conditioner, a wig brush, a pic comb & a chin strap. You use the chin strap to hold the wig on while you style it. Now all we need is the wig and the wigstand and coverings to put on her head under the wig. Mum2Kaza thinks she has a wigstand to help us and I have PM'd her. We may only need the wig & the nylon coverings for her head. :-)

I did try the American Cancer Society in Concord, NC as that is not that far from where I live. They told me because my Mother wasn't being treated at the hospital they are affiliated with, that they could not help her. They are at Northeast CMC and they only help people being treated there. I really don't think that is right but, that is the way it has been set up. :-(

Unfortunately, there is not an American Cancer Society near her. The closest one is over an hour away. I have already looked into this. Also, the reason I am posting this request as a wish is so, she can get the color she is hoping for. I want her to look as close to herself as possible as she goes through this. She has had to answer questions all her life about how she talks, what's wrong with her face...etc. I just want her hair to look as close to normal as possible so, she won't have to answer questions about that also. She is choosing not to tell her Father that she has cancer as he is in his nineties and has just been put in a nursing home. If she went to see him with a different color hair, believe me he'd ask about it. He doesn't see that well but, he would be able to tell if her hair was a different color. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers and I hope the American Cancer Society will bring a location closer to my Mother.

The American Cancer Society will give your mom a wig free of cost. It might not be the exact color she is hoping for. I went through surgery, chemo and rad and decided bald WAS beautiful for me, but my mom chose to wear a wig through out her treatments. I wish your mom the best with everything she is going through and just know your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

When I see my Father later today, I will ask him if their insurance will cover any of it. I don't think it does, but, I will double check on that. I will add a paypal button but, would love for a hero to be able to get the wig from tlcdirect.org. I could then use any donations to get the supplies to go with the wig. I also will be measuring my Mother today to figure out what size wig she will need. Thank you for the prayers. They are much needed.

Hello: I am so sorry to hear of your mother's illness. Will insurance cover any of this cost for her? Do you have paypal that you could add a paypal button to this wish so that if heroes felt the call to donate to this wish they could?
Thanks for any further info you can provide. My prayers are with you. -josh- Walk On Heroes Director
