I WISH I had a decent car WITH working brakes for safe travel with my child

I recently had to buy a car. I had no choice and very little cash considering my other car engine had seized. The car that i bought was promised it was in good working condition. Well the brakes creak and are going, Everytime I accelerate I leave behind a very think cloud of smoke, and the transmission "slams" into gear. I work two jobs just barely making rent and food. I NEED my car for both jobs and the repairs are much much more than what the car costs. Everytime I place my son in the car I get worried that I will be stranded on the side of a busy road. Since a cell phone, even a landline to me is a luxury. I am finding harder and harder to find a payphone on the road if I get stuck. I know there are many people out there who have it worse off than i do, I actually feel very selfish for posting this. But i figured i shouldnt be so proud and learn when to ask for help. I thank you all for taking the time and reading this, and I hope one day I will be able to grant someone else's wish

What make/model is your car? If you'd accept, perhaps my husband could replace the brakes on it for you? He is pretty handy when it comes to these things...where is Englishtown , btw?

I wish I could help you out more, but I will offer you this advice.. my husband and I needed work done on our car.. it was going to cost us 900.00 dollars to fix it.. we didn't have that much, but we had enough to buy the parts.. then we placed an add on craigs list for someone who could help us for cheap.. we paid a college student 200.00 and he let us spread out the payment to fix the clutch in our car.. it took him 16 hours and he did it for 200.00. There are still good people out there.. you just have to find em.. Good Luck!!
