NEED FOOD!

The local food stamp office is messing around again with my wife and I again. I dont get how if we reapplied in May for food stamps they expired in July? Well anyways Im trying to get it figured out, but its really hard to with out a car or a phone. We have a friend that is taking us to a local food pantry and is eventually gonna take us to the food stamp office untill this gets figured out we literally are probably not gonna eat! If you can help in anyway then God Bless

@Rfaulk, yes I can understand the frustration, I was on food stamps for over 10 years, and I dealt with all sorts of incompetencies, always had my paperwork in on time, and got excuses about caseworkers being swamped, quitting, etc, well that is not the client's fault. My family was helped by St Vincent's and I know about what you mean with food not lasting long. Hmmm I know our Salvation Army has a food closet open to people once a month maybe yours does too--just trying to come up with options for you. Another option might be to find a church that supports Angel Food Ministries in your area. If they have leftover boxes of food theyll donate to families in need. Sometime ago I had to call our local Angel Food Ministries and explained my situation and they left me come in and get a free box of food on distribution day. IF you want to know more, please message me and Ill try to help direct you to some help. Calling your local United Way might yield some avenues of help too. ((HUGS))

Yeah that is why Im so mad at them I submitted everything the local food stamp office needed back in May and they said there would be no problem yet come July 1st no food stamps! My wife and daughter and I already go to St.Vincents DePaul's food pantry once a week with a friend. They are totally overwhelmed, and the food they give us for three people my daughter being a toddler doesnt last vary long!

Hi, I also live in Indiana. Since you reapplied in May, the food stamps would normally expire the following month provided info is not processed in a timely manner...sounds as if the caseworker perhaps has not processed the paperwork that you had to submit during recertificaion (which is ridiculous, I know, I had to go through that too) St Vincent DePaul Society (located in a Catholic church in your area) should be able to help you with at least some of your immediate needs--including food.

It has been standard policy to recertify every three months for several years. Some families are recerted every six month or year. They do this to ensure people are still eligible for them.
