To Make love

A very dear friend of mine wishes she could be intimate, but she cannot have sex because of an "imperforate hymen." As a result, she has never been able to use tampons, or have intercourse. It is apparently very painful when she tries to be intimate and she gets almost no stimulation or satisfaction from it.

I wanted to surprise her by raising the funds needed to have a surgery called a Hymenectomy, where the hymen is surgically removed. I did some reading on the subject and it seems to be somewhat common. I guess there are many women who have similar problems. I wasn't able to find a definite price for the surgery, but some of my readings suggested it could be between 1500 and 3000 dollars, and her insurance wont cover it. I really feel bad for her. She wants to have intimacy, but cant. She is in her 30s, a beautiful woman, and has never been able to have sex. Can anyone help her?

Small donations add up.

I based cost on comments listed. Here are a couple of links I used:
http://www.steadyhealth.com/hymenectomy_recovery_t57657.html?page=2
http://www.hisandherhealth.com/sexual-health-forums/2-Sexual-Pain-Disorder-and-Gyn-Topics/21189-hymenectomy?limit=15&start=90

I couldn't find, with general searches, any prices; but the posts listed on these links are all from women with this or similar problems. The second link has a post from a girl who's doctor told her it would coast 1500, but that her insurance would cover most of it. The first link has a post from a man who's wife underwent the surgery, and they got a bill for 11,000 dollars. He says their doctor said it would only coast 3,000 max.

So there you go. Take it or leave it. I just wanted to help. But, and I'm sorry if its offensive, I not that interested in becoming fully educated on the subject. I was also trying to be as discrete as possible. What more can I say?

That last comment I have to say, is really upsetting. I'm angry about it. But, "likeahorse" you have a point. I don't know anything about this really. I'm a guy, and I've never studies this thing before. I honestly didn't know it existed until I learned from her that she was having these problems. But anyway, your right. I didn't understand that "imperforate" meant completely closed. Now thinking about it, that makes sense. I guess the correct technical term is something like "Cribriform, or microperforate." But correct me if I'm wrong. I'm really just a friend of her's, not her lover. So I haven't gone into great detail with her, about Her personal intimate issues. But as she has described it, there is only a small opening, and the hymen is very thick and painful to palpate. That's what she said. As far as price, I've really only gone as far as "google" searching this problem, and reading posts from those who have undergone surgery for similar issues with the hymen. I based coast on t

I call b.s. on this one. Your friend would be dead at 30 years of age if she truly had an imperforate hymen. Patients present with symptoms at puberty with swollen and painful abdomen due to severe blood retention. She would not survive until 30.

Also, she should go get a free consult with a gynecologist and could nail down the price. You "guessing" at the cost is pure b.s.

I don't understand why an insurance company would not pay for this, on a whim I made some calls and was told that it is actually not an uncommon problem and the procedure was covered by insurance. Maybe she has a high deductible? At any rate I would have this wish verified.

I think its wonderful how you're helping your friend. I do Not think this wish is inappropriate. This is a medical problem. I've heard of it & some people are even in pain when they are Not doing anything at all. Everyone deserves to experience "Love" in her/his life. This is why we were all created the way we are. I hope your friend gets her surgery! Good luck!

I wish I could help you with this wish. Although intimacy is not everything in a relationship, it is important. I agree that she should go see her doctor again (and maybe even get another doctors opinion) and report his/their findings to her insurance company - they may change their minds with more information. As to the comments below: I do not feel like this wish is inappropriate in any way. It was clinical, informative and brief. He explained the situation to the best of his ability, using the appropriate language/definitions for her condition. Any "children" who are browsing wishes and are old enough to read and understand the words in this wish, are old enough to know what sex is.

Honorable wish for your friend however this is a little questionable based on kids reading posts on this site. I wish your friend luck, she should appeal the non coverage with her insurance. If she has proff froma dr that this is medically needed that can repeal thus allowing the surgery to be approved.

It is a medical condition but is not common. If it was "complete" then it would have had to be surgically fixed when she started her monthly cycle to prevent infection. Doctors should be able to help her. Good Luck.

I am sorry about your friend's problem, but it seems kind of inappropriate to post a wish like this on this type of site.

Yes, the raccoon picture has nothing to do with anything. But the site wouldn't let me not post one. And I believe my friend would like to stay anonymous. In the mean time, enjoy the cute raccoon.
